Studio and Location Options for Every Portrait Brief

Whether you need professional headshots for a LinkedIn profile or a family session in a Winnipeg park, the process is the same: preparation, patience, and light.

Portrait sessions at Echopvivid take place either in the studio on McDermot Avenue — fitted with a warm amber interior and adjustable continuous lighting — or on location across Winnipeg. Common location choices include Assiniboine Park, The Forks, and the architectural corridors of the Exchange District, all of which offer the directional natural light the studio favours. Sessions run for sixty to ninety minutes with no artificial rush. Clients are invited to bring changes of clothing, reference images, or specific requests. A gallery of 30 to 60 edited images is delivered within seven business days, with five retouched hero images included in every package.

I had dreaded headshots for years because every previous attempt produced images that looked like someone else. The session at Echopvivid was slower and less staged than anything I had experienced before. The five hero images they selected are the first headshots I have genuinely been comfortable using professionally.

What Portrait Photography Cannot Guarantee

Honest expectations make for better working relationships and better results.

Portrait photography produces its best results when the subject arrives rested, with clothing choices made in advance, and without a rigid idea of exactly how each image must look. The studio can guide posture, suggest expressions, and adjust the light, but it cannot manufacture ease in a subject who is deeply uncomfortable in front of a camera. For that reason, the pre-session consultation is taken seriously: questions about comfort levels and previous photographic experiences help the studio calibrate its approach before the day of the shoot. Retouching is limited to the agreed number of hero images; broader retouching requests are quoted separately.
